The information set out above is indicative only and is based on the Australian Labor Party’s ‘Cheaper Home Batteries Program’ pre-election announcement on 6 April 2025 (see: https://alp.org.au/news/labor-to-deliver-one-million-energy-bill-busting-batteries). Eligible products, installations and incentive values are subject to the program being implemented by the Federal Government, which is expected to take place in time for the scheduled commencement date of 1 July 2025. These incentives, if implemented, will only be available for eligible battery systems commissioned from 1 July 2025, even if the installation date occurs on or after 6 April 2025. Federal incentives for home batteries will not be available until and unless the Federal Government enacts this program. NSW Battery Incentives: As at 18 May 2025, NSW Government incentives (under the Peak Demand Reduction Program) are not available if the battery also receives federal incentives from the Australian Government. We understand that this restriction is currently under review by the NSW Government and a decision is expected to be announced in due course. Until and unless the NSW Government removes this restriction, batteries will not be eligible to receive NSW Government incentives if they also receive Federal Government incentives. Other States: Please speak to your local Solahart dealer to find out whether any other incentives offered by State or Territory Governments can be stacked on top of the proposed Federal Battery Incentives. This incentive is provided by the NSW Government. The offer commenced on 1 November 2024, and changed on 1 July 2025.
The incentive is proportional to the usable capacity of the battery in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Larger batteries will receive a larger incentive.
Your system must remain connected and active in the program to receive full benefits.
To qualify for these incentives, you must:
– Have an existing solar system or be purchasing rooftop solar.
– Purchase a new battery.
– Use a certified installer, such as Solahart.
– Meet the requirements for eligible batteries.
*Eligibility criteria applies. Limited time offer available while stocks last to eligible NSW residents only on selected Solahart Heat Pumps. The number of certificates that can be created per system is based on its geographical location (zone) and varies with the type, size and model of the system installed. The value of an Energy Saving Certificate (ESC) is not fixed and varies depending on market factors. These calculations are based on a certificate value of $39.06 in Zone 3. The boosted ESCs are only available in NSW within Zone 3. Under current regulations, NSW Government incentives apply in the form of ESCs that can be used to offer a discount on the purchase of a solar or heat pump water heater (if eligible, conditions apply). ESCs have a variable market value and are subject to change. Installation must be completed by June 30th 2025.

(1) Solar water heaters and heat pumps are great for the environment, and the Australian Government Renewable Energy Target scheme provides a mechanism that offers a generous incentive to help you make the switch. The incentive comes in the form of Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs) that can be traded and sold on the open market or can be used as an upfront discount to reduce the purchase price of your new system. The number of certificates that can be created per system is based on its geographical location (zone) and varies with the type, size and model of the system installed. The value of an STC is not fixed and varies depending on market factors. Currently, each certificate is worth $36.
(2) Like STCs, ESCs have a variable market value and are subject to change. Their value can also be used to offer a discount on the purchase of a solar or heat pump water heater. Currently, each certificate is worth $26. The ESCs are only available in NSW.
(3) What is not covered under this program
– The replacement of an electric water heater with a solar (gas boosted) water heater, as the NSW ESS does not incentivise new gas connections.
– Installations of new solar water heaters or heat pump water heaters in new buildings or where there is no existing electric or gas hot water system.
– The replacement of an existing solar water heater or heat pump water heater.
– Any installation undertaken to comply with any mandatory legal requirement imposed through a statutory or regulatory instrument of any jurisdiction, including, but not limited to, compliance with BCA and BASIX-affected development requirements, except for alterations, enlargements or extensions of a BASIX-affected development and a water heater is being replaced.
* Energy savings of up to 65% shown are based on Australian Government-approved TRNSYS simulation modelling of a Solahart 302L and using a medium load in Zone 3 and apply when replacing an electric water heater. Any savings will vary depending upon your location, type of Solahart system installed, orientation and inclination of the solar collectors, type of water heater being replaced, hot water consumption and fuel tariff. Maximum financial savings off your hot water bill are achievable when replacing an electric water heater on a continuous tariff.
